Legend ready to return to Liverpool
In an interview with Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, former player Dirk Kuijt admitted that he could return to Liverpool to support new head coach Arne Slot.
In the past, Kuijt played for Liverpool for 6 years from 2006-2012, appearing in nearly 200 matches.
The former Dutch striker is currently the head coach at Beerschot Club in Belgium, but in a recent interview on Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, Kuijt confirmed that he is ready to return to Liverpool at any time to help his compatriot Slot in the early stages of taking over The Kop from his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.
“Slot is a family man but also a football man. He devotes all his time to the game, if you watch his press conference at Liverpool, you will see that Slot communicates very well. He is a funny guy but still keeps a serious attitude when working. He knows everything about football,” Kuijt said. “Of course if Liverpool need me to help, I will be happy to help . I am still in contact with everyone at the club. I have held several roles on the board of the club before, I always want to contribute to Liverpool.”
Kuijt is clearly no stranger to Slot as in the past, the legendary son played at the Feyenoord academy and also had the opportunity to play under Slot’s guidance in a few matches.
After retiring, Kuijt pursued a coaching career and achieved some success. The first club in his coaching career where the former player born in 1980 was ADO Den Haag, but Kuijt was fired after not being in the position for long. However, at his second team, Beerschot, the former Fenerbahce star helped the Olympic team to be promoted to play in the Belgian National Championship in his first season.
