Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is expected to agree a move to Liverpool this summer, leaving his club to agree a fee with Arne Slot’s side.

The Reds are the only Premier League side yet to make a signing this summer, but are looking to change that by signing a deep-lying midfielder.

And, like Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United before them, their hunt has led them to Zubimendi, who featured in the EURO 2024 final for Spain.

The three previous sides all failed to persuade the 25-year-old to leave La Real, but Liverpool appear to have succeeded where they failed, with David Ornstein revealing that Sociedad “expect” their midfielder to agree a move to Anfield.

There remains the issue of price, with the two sides yet to agree a fee, but it appears the Reds may be on the verge of landing their man.
