Which stars does Cristiano Ronaldo idolize?
Ronaldo has long been an inspiration and idol for many young players. Let’s take a look at some of CR7’s die-hard fans.
Kylian Mbappe
During a UEFA Nations League match between France and Portugal in 2020, Ronaldo and Mbappe had a playful moment in the middle of the match. After the match, Mbappe tweeted the word “Idol” along with crown and goat (GOAT) emojis in a direct message to his idol.
Mbappe later played alongside Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, having previously hung a poster of Ronaldo on his bedroom wall as a talented youngster with dreams of becoming a top player one day.

Erling Haaland
Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has always expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Norwegian even said that he could not have become a footballer without Ronaldo. That is his own opinion. In 2020, when he was 23, he told reporters:
“I would love to meet Ronaldo and say that thanks to him I became a football player. For me, CR7 has always been an example.”
Erling Haaland also has a special admiration for Ronaldo
Rasmus Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund is another young striker and he certainly has a long way to go if he wants to follow in CR7’s footsteps, but at least he has plenty of inspiration from his idol. The Dane confessed:
“My idol is Ronaldo. I watched him a lot. I like his desire and the way he is always eager to score goals. He is very determined to be the best.”
Like Haaland, Rasmus Hojlund also learned a lot from CR7.
Joao Felix
As a Portuguese striker born in 1999, it is no surprise that Joao Felix is a die-hard fan of CR7. Felix expressed his love for Ronaldo in 2019 via Sports Keeda:
“Cristiano is my childhood idol, he is an example of everything for me. When I was still a child and he was the best player in the world. He is unique. Ronaldo is writing football history. I love it when he says I am a phenomenon.”
Joao Felix often has the opportunity to play with CR7 on the national team.
Vinicius Jr
Ronaldo got a first-hand look at the talented youngster when he arrived at the Bernabeu in March 2020, after Vinicius Jr scored for Madrid against Barcelona and performed the same ‘Siiiiu!’ celebration as his idol. Vinicius later confirmed on social media that Ronaldo was indeed his idol.

Alejandro Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho scored a stunning volley in 2023 – it was an incredible goal that even Ronaldo would have applauded if he had seen it. Garnacho idolised the Portuguese superstar to the point where he may have been the only Argentinian to publicly declare Ronaldo the GOAT.
