Ione Skye claims Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis got her pregnant — and paid for her abortion — when she was 17 years old.
The actress made the shocking revelation in her new memoir, “Say Everything,” claiming they made the painful decision together due to her young age and the rocker’s heroin addiction. Skye was just 16 years old when she started dating Kiedis, who was 24 when they struck up a romance.
“I was the type of girl who’d wanted a baby since I was a baby, who used to fantasize about finding a swaddled infant on my doorstep or catching a flying ghost baby with a butterfly net,” Skye, now 54, writes in her book, out now.
“But fantasizing was different from seeing. I couldn’t see having a baby at this point.”
According to Skye, the “Scar Tissue” singer did not attend the alleged abortion appointment with her out of guilt. However, she does not regret her choice.
“I was taking care of myself now, making a choice that felt good and important for my future,” she recalls in the memoir. “I would not have a baby at 17, with someone who didn’t want to be a dad, wouldn’t commit to me and had anger issues. Not to mention the heroin.”
Page Six has reached out to reps for Kiedis for comment.
In a new interview with People, Skye said she felt inspired to tell her life story after social media critics questioned her romance with Kiedis, now 62.
“These girls on TikTok were saying things like, ‘How could my mom let me be with Anthony?’ And I sort of clapped back,” she said.
“Not in an aggressive way, but I was like, ‘Well, my mom was really upset that I was with a rockstar like Anthony Kiedis.’ And I don’t know, I kind of started feeling like I was able to tell my side of the story, and I had a lot to tell.”
Also in her book, Skye dished on her distant relationship with her famous dad, Donavan, saying that they have grown closer in recent years.
She also shared other stories about her life over the years, including affairs during her marriage to Beastie Boys star Adam Horovitz, doing drugs, exploring her bisexuality and eventually getting her happily-ever-after in her marriage to rocker Ben Lee. The pair share 15-year-old daughter, Goldie Priya Lee.
As for the other names mentioned in her memoir, Skye shared that some of the people had a chance to read her book. She has not spoken to Kiedis, however.
“I stay in touch with his mother, but not with him,” she told People. “I’m very curious about what he’ll think — he and my father. They’re the ones I’m most nerve-wracked about. But everyone who has read it says it’s a good read.”
