According to Jurrien Timber, a defender for Arsenal FC, the sense of unity and harmony in Rwanda has greatly impressed him.

The Dutch footballer began his three-day visit to the country on Thursday, December 14.

“Revelry to be in Rwanda is splendid. I am having a tremendous time spent here. Everyone seems to be smiling, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. “My experience thus far in Rwanda has lived up to the many positive things I have heard,” Timber said while observing juvenile footballers on a playground near Kigali Pele Stadium.

Timber paid his respects at the Genocide Memorial Centre on his initial day in Rwanda, where he honoured the victims of the 1994 Tutsi genocide.

“It is crucial to comprehend Rwanda’s history and the events that transpired in the country.” “I am grateful for the current state of peace that has been established in the nation,” he expressed.

The 22-year-old engaged in conversation with the young footballers and recounted a portion of his life’s journey.

“My mother is the greatest source of motivation for me.” She is exceptionally dear to me. “We had little when I was young, but her support helped me get to where I am today,” he explained.

A former Ajax player reflected on his career and stated that, despite suffering an injury during the Community Shield match against Manchester City, it was his most memorable moment.

He also disclosed that Erling Haaland of Manchester City is the most formidable striker he has ever encountered.

“Despite suffering an injury, my finest performance was in the Community Shield match between Arsenal and Manchester City.” “Erling Haaland is the most formidable striker I have ever encountered,” he stated.

Timber conveyed his admiration for the “Visit Rwanda” initiative and the Rwandan people’s tremendous support for Arsenal.

“I’ve noticed many Arsenal shirts on the streets; people really support Arsenal here,” according to him.

Timber’s expedition is an initiative of Visit Rwanda in collaboration with Arsenal FC, serving as the Official Tourism Partner and inaugural Sleeve Sponsor of the club.
